Virginia Women and Family Support Center Celebrates Grand Opening of Manassas House

The nonprofit, Virginia Women and Family Support Center (VAWFSC) provides long-term housing to women and families experiencing homelessness.

In a powerful demonstration of community resilience and compassion, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center (VAWFSC) celebrated the grand opening of The Manassas House, a beacon of hope born from a meaningful partnership with Prosperity House, and the Manassas Church of the Brethren.

The Manassas House stands as a testament to hope and resilience. Designed to house up to six women and their children, it is a critical pathway for families overcoming homelessness. This house provides a foundation for rebuilding lives, creating opportunities for stability, growth, and renewed purpose.

The timing of this expansion could not be more critical. In the aftermath of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, women and children have emerged as the fastest-growing segment of the homeless population. Where many see insurmountable challenges, Virginia Women and Family Support Center sees opportunity – an opportunity to transform lives, break cycles of hardship, and restore dignity.

Founded in 2016 as Carried To Full Term, the organization has evolved from providing housing for pregnant women to supporting a broader range of women and families. What began as merely a dream, has blossomed into a comprehensive housing-first program that has touched the lives of over 292 women and 606 children in 2024 alone.

The grand opening event was a vibrant celebration of community solidarity, bringing together an impressive array of local leaders and supporters, including Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger of Manassas, Delegate Josh Thomas, Delbert Parks and Zuzana Steen from Micron Technology, Pastor Mandy Dell'Uomo North and Manassas Church of the Brethren, Pastor T.J. Denman and Dr. Stephanir Nance of Chapel Springs Church, Sentara Health, Pastor Kore Bendix from Grace Covenant Church, Reverend Sean from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Haymarket, and Pastor Stevie of Christian Life Church. The organization extends heartfelt thanks to Home Depot, for helping to make The Manassas House a comfortable and updated environment for families to make their home.

"When we started eight years ago, we received ten calls a week," reflects Frances Robin, Executive Director of VAWFSC. "Today, we receive up to ten requests daily. This is a clear signal of an urgent crisis that we are committed to addressing."

Beyond providing a safe place to call home, Virginia Women and Family Support Center is breaking the cycle of homelessness by creating dedicated spaces for the most vulnerable. The center supports maternal health by guiding women through pregnancy and early motherhood. Additionally, their comprehensive program offers critical mental health resources, enabling healing and personal growth.

"Miracles happen in our hallways," says Robin. "We've seen lives transform from abandonment to victory, from uncertainty to hope. But we cannot do this alone."

Every donation, every moment of support, every ounce of compassion contributes to breaking cycles of hardship and creating brighter futures.

Every Mom & Baby Deserve a Place to Call Home This Holiday Season

While families across America decorate trees and exchange gifts, there are up to 47,520 pregnant mothers and their babies are facing the devastating reality of homelessness. Each of these mothers carries a story of resilience, hope, and an unbreakable love that drives her to protect her child against impossible odds. These are not strangers – they are sisters, daughters, neighbors fighting to create a future for their children when everything seems impossible.

Your donation can be the difference between despair and hope. It can transform a car into a home, uncertainty into stability, and a moment of crisis into a lifetime of possibility. This holiday season, you have the power to wrap a mother and her baby in the warmth of safety, dignity, and hope.

Will you be the miracle these families need? Donate now at vawfsc.org and help us ensure no mother and child spends another night without a place to call home.
