Virginia Women and Family Support Center Announces Comprehensive Maternal Health Workshop to Address Critical Maternal Health Needs

The Virginia Women and Family Support Center will host a groundbreaking Maternal Health Workshop on April 19, 2025, at George Mason University's Science and Technology Campus. This day-long event brings together healthcare professionals, policymakers, advocates, and community leaders to address the pressing maternal health challenges facing women in Virginia.


The workshop will run from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and aims to empower mothers and mothers-to-be with essential knowledge and resources while fostering meaningful dialogue about maternal health outcomes in our communities. Participants will engage in interactive sessions led by distinguished healthcare professionals and subject matter experts.


"This workshop represents a crucial step toward improving maternal health outcomes in Prince William County and beyond," said Frances Robin, Executive Director of Virginia Women and Family Support Center. "By bringing together diverse community leaders, we can create meaningful change and support healthier futures for mothers and families across our state."


The comprehensive program includes:

  • Expert-led sessions on prenatal care, nutrition, and exercise during pregnancy

  • Interactive workshops on birth plan creation and self-advocacy during labor

  • Panel discussions addressing maternal mental health and postpartum care

  • Hands-on educational activities

  • One-on-one consultations with maternal health experts

  • Networking opportunities with healthcare providers and community resources


The event will feature breakout sessions, guest speakers, and an included lunch, providing attendees with ample opportunities to connect, learn, and share experiences.
